Coat of Arms of the House von Hohenstaufen

The House von Hohenstaufen Association (Verband des Hauses von Hohenstaufen or VHVH) was founded by proven direct descendants of the Hohenstaufen dynasty in order to preserve the family's heritage, history, and legacy and to protect it from illegitimate claimants. The VHVH protects the legacy and future of the Hohenstaufen dynasty by maintaining official records of legitimate members of the dynasty. Although the imperial main line of the House von Hohenstaufen became extinct in the year 1268 when King Konrad II of Sicily (Duke Konrad IV of Swabia, or "Konradin"), died with no heirs, legitimate descendants of cadet branches of the Hohenstaufen family survived and produced heirs, giving rise to the modern descendants of the House von Hohenstaufen.

Since the fall of the German Empire in 1918 with the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II at the end of World War I and the dissolution of noble titles in 1919, the responsibilities for administering the titles and members of noble families fall on the families themselves rather than on government entities. Thus, the VHVH determines the rightful members of the dynasty, as well as the Head of the House von Hohenstaufen. As the most senior extant cadet branch, the Head of the House of Bourgogne von Hohenstaufen is also the Head of the House von Hohenstaufen and President of the VHVH.

Throughout history, many have falsely claimed descent in order to benefit from the Hohenstaufen Dynasty's prestige, often claiming descent from nonexistent, illegitimate offspring. Sadly, after the dissolution of the aristocracy, many noble families have had to face the ever-growing difficulties created by fraudulent claimants and false descendants. Please contact the House von Hohenstaufen Association to verify anyone claiming membership in or descent from the House von Hohenstaufen.

The Association of the Houses of Bourgogne (Verband der Häuser de Bourgogne or VHDB) was founded by proven direct descendants of the various Houses of Bourgogne in order to preserve the heritage, history, and legacy of the Houses. The VHDB maintains records and genealogies of all legitimate members of the dynasties, past and present. Like the House von Hohenstaufen, the main branches and several cadet branches of the Houses are now defunct. However, legitimate descendants of the Houses did survive and produce heirs through the joint cadet branch, the House of Bourgogne von Hohenstaufen.

Since the fall of the monarchies of the countries associated with the Houses de Bourgogne, the responsibilities for administering the claims to titles and legitimate descent fall on the families rather than government entities. Thus, the VHDB determines the rightful members and the Head of the Houses de Bourgogne. As the most senior legitimate cadet branch of the Houses de Bourgogne (of France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain), the Head of the House of Bourgogne von Hohenstaufen is also the Head of the House de Bourgogne and President of the VHDB.
